The current correspondent banking system was not built for emerging markets. It is slow, expensive, opaque, and systematically de-risks the institutions that need it most. Smaller banks, digital wallets, and payment service providers in Southeast Asia, Latin America, and Africa have been left behind — forced to rely on multi-hop chains that inflate costs, delay settlements, and expose them to constant counterparty risk. Meridian exists to change that.
